Karen Peltier

I enjoy being in the moment and open my eyes, ears and senses to the subject matter in front of me. I can draw from life; what is known as still life images. I find myself photographing what interests me and later discover why. Designing first using the camera to capture the image. Then expressing the energy I experience; finding what’s captured my attention. Of course, all things have shapes, colors, lines and forms. They also have energy, essence and a gift of wonder that catches your soul’s interest.

I use paper and pencil or paste oil sticks on masonite board or watercolors on watercolor paper to catch the image and spirit I see. Pushing the creative process; letting go of programed information of the past, taught ways of thinking; expressing how to see; interpret what and how it should look and be. It really is not about the finished product but the joy of pushing the process and discovery of something new; not experienced before.
